Hanging out with Andy at the NY Times.
As I walked into Andy Rosenthal's office (editorial page editor) at the NY Times building on 8th. Ave, about a month ago, he was watching the historic debate (on CNN) over the repeal of "don't ask don't tell" (DADT) policy in the US military. The law effectively prohibits known gay men and lesbians from enlisting in the military by forcing them to pretend to be heterosexual as a condition of service.
He doesn't like this law. He knows so much, "has no lack of opinions", as it says in the story, and can keep you on your toes for hours, but we had less than an hour for the photo shoot. Still, we talked about a lot of subjects...
Regardless the topic above, Here's the link to the story that the magazine I was assigned by (NJ Monthly) is running in its January issue:

"Home-Land"_a group show of Middle Eastern artists_Sunday Nov. 14th.
"Home-Land" art show. Sunday Nov. 14th. 2010
I was very excited and honored to be a part of this show of 14 Middle-Eastern artists that was a part of the BETA arts project in Bushwick, Bklyn.
From what I heard, this was, by far, one of the most impressive shows of the whole art festival, and as I heard from a viewer "the most visceral."
After all, it's about the Middle East !:)
Between one artist' nude performance for the whole duration of the show; Joseph Shahadi's (Lebanon affiliation) lam hearts and testicles displayed on the table with needles stuck in some, Makram Hamdan's (Lebanon) live chicken installation with worms, and (..Hmmmm...xcuse me) my semi- nude photographs of Israeli female soldiers, plus the work of the many other talented artists...it was an intriguing (and familiar in a peculiar way) event.

WHAT THE FUCHS_The movie
A 10 minutes movie directed by Augustin Doublet about...Me :)
I met Augustin while working on the "Bushwick Year Book" last December, and he expressed his interest in getting to know my work and my motives better...and document it.
So, Voila ! After (quite) a few sessions, here's his short version.
The movie follows me in Bushwick, Brooklyn and Manhattan, and shows where I find some of my subjects as well as what goes behind the scenes.
